Apedale Mine Tour - Adult plus Child Ticket - 10:30am

This is a booking for a child and a supervising adult for a tour down Apedale Mine, one of the very few mines in the UK that's open to the public. Your experienced guide will show you around the workings, explaining the methods used to mine coal past and present, whilst providing an insight into the working life of a miner.

Please note that, since this is a rugged industrial environment, all children MUST be accompanied by a supervising adult.

Tickets for this are likely to sell out quickly - there's only room for six people per group - so, if you change your mind and decide not to come, please let us know.

Please assemble at the entrance ten minutes before your start time.

Important Safety Bit

• It's down a disused coal mine. This is a real mine, not a purpose-built, sanitised museum "experience".
• It's colder down there than you think, and it will be rough and at times steeply sloping underfoot. Dress appropriately - long trousers rather than shorts, and bring a jumper - and wear sensible boots.
• We don't send small children down t'pit any more. All members of your party must be over five years old, no exceptions.
• No dogs down the mine, please. If you've got a dog with you, why not take it for a walk in Apedale Country Park instead?
• It's a dark, confined space. If you suffer from claustrophobia, this probably isn't the trip for you.
